The 373,000 square foot American Savings Bank Campus in Honolulu’s Chinatown district serves as the headquarters for the bank’s approximate 1,100 teammates across the State of Hawaii with about 660 of them working onsite. The building’s interior design provides open-floor layouts for teammate-focused collaborative efforts. Exterior site improvements include a plaza area and water feature, a bio-retention basin and 2 hydrodynamic separators for storm water treatment prior to discharging into the nearby Nu‘uanu Stream, and a sewer lateral supported on augered cast-in-place piles. The engineering services included design of the driveway and frontage improvements for access from both Beretania Street and Aala Street, along with design of the water, sewer, and storm drainage systems, site and plaza grading, water feature equipment screening, and preparation of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit application for construction storm water discharges.
